Stéphanie Zaks and her team join GGV Avocats – Rechtsanwälte to create a Criminal and Press Law Department

Stéphanie Zaks will be joining GGV Avocats – Rechtsanwälte as a Partner, accompanied by her team. Their renowned expertise in criminal and press law will enrich GGV Avocats with a new department dedicated to this field. Stéphanie Zaks also reinforces the firm’s employment law and compliance department, notably through her expertise in litigation and internal investigations.

Admitted to the Paris Bar in January 2005, Stéphanie Zaks advises a wide range of clients (groups, small and medium-sized companies, public institutions, local authorities, associations and individuals) who are both perpetrators and victims of criminal offences on a variety of criminal law issues (commercial criminal law, labour criminal law, public and environmental criminal law). Stéphanie Zaks further advises in the field of press and intellectual property law (defamation and press offenses, right of reply, image and privacy rights, right to de-referencing, right to be forgotten, advertising, counterfeiting, unfair competition and disparagement, etc.) for leading national print, internet and audiovisual media, publishing houses and digital platforms. 

Furthermore, she assists clients in complex labour law disputes, both as counsel and litigator.

Stéphanie Zaks will take up her new position on 1 January 2025, along with her associate, Maître Marceau Vidal, and her assistant. Stéphanie Zaks holds degrees from Sciences Po Paris (IEP) and the Faculty of Law of Nanterre (Paris X), where she completed the BI-DEUG in German law, a postgraduate diploma (Magistère) in labour law as well as a diploma in individual and collective labour law. She previously practiced law at the law firms Lysias, Dartevelle Benazeraf Merlet Dubest and Mayer Brown. She subsequently founded her own firm, Cabinet Zaks, in 2011.

She has been listed in several professional rankings in criminal law, press law and labour law . She is a member of the scientific advisory board of the Association des Avocats Praticiens du Droit de la presse (AAPDP). Having studied in Germany and Ireland, Stéphanie Zaks works in German and English on a daily basis.

Marceau Vidal holds a Master II degree in International Private Law and International Trade Law from the University of Paris I-Panthéon Sorbonne, and a Master II degree in Literary, Artistic and Intellectual Property from the University of Paris II-Panthéon Assas.
